Making her debut last season, McDonell came on against the Melbourne Vixens in Round 2 as a teenager and did not look out of place. She moves well and has developed through the pathways, and could be a future Australian Diamond. While there is a long way to go for the 20-year-old, McDonnell will represent Australia at the 2021 Netball World Youth Cup. In 2020, she will learn off the likes of Kristiana Manu’a and Sam Poolman in the defensive goal circle.
She is an exciting prospect to take the court for the GIANTS able to come on and inject that element of unpredictability and youth to throw opposition goalers off their game. Her read of the play and deceptively long arms provides her with opportunities to create turnovers and win ball back for her side.
