2024 SSN Signings Catch Up – Edition 1

IT has been a chaotic few days in the world of the Suncorp Super Netball.

But, it is finally signing season for the competition and already much of the picture is coming together.

With just over 24 hours left in the signing period, let us take a look and see how everyone’s list is shaping up.

Adelaide Thunderbirds

The reigning premiers have only made two signing announcements thus far.

Midcourter/goaler Georgie Horjus and midcourter Tayla Williams will both be back in pink next season.

GIANTS Netball

The GIANTS have certainly been the busiest thus far, and are not mucking around when it comes to signing announcements.

So far they have seven confirmed returnees and one confirmed new face.

Maddie Hay, Jamie-Lee Price, Sophie Dwyer, Matisse Letherbarrow, Jo Harten, Matilda McDonell and Amy Sligar are all coming back from the 2023 squad to play in orange again in 2024, while the new face is Kiwi midcourter Sam Winders.

Queensland Firebirds

The Firebirds have also been easy, with a mix of new and old faces signing on in purple in 2024. Lara Dunkley, Kim Ravaillion, Macy Gardner and Ruby BD are all returning from the 2023 squad, while the new faces are former training partners Isabelle Shearer and Hulita Veve, and a returning face in former Firebird turned Thunderbird Tippah Dwan.

Melbourne Mavericks

SSN’s newest side has made some history, announcing Eleanor Cardwell and then Sasha Glasgow and Maisie Nankivell as their inaugural signings.

However, they are their only official signings so far.

Melbourne Vixens

After a slow start, the Vixens finally made some announcements this morning.

Seven members of the Vixens’ 2023 squad are playing for the club again in 2024 – Kate Moloney, Jo Weston, Emily Mannix, Mwai Kumwenda, Kate Eddy, Hannah Mundy and Kiera Austin.

NSW Swifts

The 2023 runners up have made a steady start to the signing period, confirming the return of three members from their 2023 squad – Sarah Klau, Sophie Fawns and Maddy Turner.

They have also confirmed a returning face, with Sam Wallace coming back after a few injury riddled years.

Sunshine Coast Lightning

The Sunshine Coast Lightning have made five signings thus far. They have made arguably the biggest signing of the period thus far, getting the signature of former Vixens and current Diamonds captain Liz Watson.

Her signing has been announced alongside fellow new face Leesa Mi Mi, and returning faces Mahalia Cassidy, Steph Fretwell (née Wood) and Ava Black.

West Coast Fever

The Fever have also made five official signings, comprising of three returning faces and two new ones.

The returning faces are Jessica Anstiss, Alice Teague-Neeld and Sunday Aryang, while the new faces are none other than English Rose Fran Williams and former Magpie Kelsey Browne.
