Draft Central’s Collaborative 2022 AFL Women’s Top 50 Countdown: #42 Georgie Prespakis
IN a new exciting collaborative countdown, the Draft Central has teamed up with other independent media organisations to bring a 2022 AFL Women’s Top 50 Countdown. Every weekday from now until December 17, a new player will be named starting from 50th down to 1st, stemming from a combined eight Top 50 submissions. Among those who submitted Top 50s include Siren Sport‘s Gemma Bastiani, Women’s Australian Rules Football (WARF) Radio‘s Peter Holden, and a combined Outer Sanctum team’s Top 50.
Today we continue our countdown with number 42, Geelong Cats Women’s Georgie Prespakis.

The AFL Women’s Top 50 countdown was open to any players who are on a list in 2022, and who might, by the end of the season, really assert themselves on the competition. It is therefore no surprise to see one of the most consistent ball-winning juniors in Georgie Prespakis on this list at number 42. No doubt a player who has divided opinions on just where she will end up by season’s conclusion, but there is little doubt she is readymade to impact on the big time. A star with the Calder Cannons and Vic Metro, Prespakis will slot straight into the Cats midfield and provide a boost alongside Cannons’ teammate Zali Friswell.
Geelong went into the off-season looking for extra midfield depth, particularly with the loss of Olivia Purcell to Melbourne, and the Cats held the first Victorian pick. With Charlie Rowbottom opting to head to Queensland, Prespakis was the logical choice and her junior CV speaks for itself as a two-time NAB League Girls best and fairest winner and Team of the Year recipient, as well as captaining the Cannons and winning the club best and fairest. Now getting her chance at the big time, many have high hopes considering her sister Madison Prespakis‘ impact over her short time, already winning the Rising Star award and league best and fairest in her first two seasons, and still being a crucial player last year.
Prespakis has no AFL Women’s form to go off, but it did not stop her making it onto four of the eight lists, all ranging between the 30-40 mark, with the other four lists not having her on just yet. One thing is for sure, keep an eye out for the Cats’ young gun who can step up to the mark and really drive last year’s bottom Victorian team forward and begin their ascent up the ladder.
