Saints raise high as Darwin says Tah to flag hopes
WEEK One of the 2023/24 NTFL Women’s Finals have come and gone, with Waratah and St Mary’s coming away the happiest from the weekend’s proceedings.
St Mary’s one win away from Grand Final after taming Tigers
St Mary’s are one win away from a spot in the Grand Final, after taming the Nightcliff Tigers by six goals in the Qualifying Final.
Things were tight early, with only five points separating the teams at the first change, but the Saints just started to build in the second term, kicking three goals to none to open a bit of a buffer between the sides. Ultimately the Tigers’ inability to kick any majors in the last term which saw St Mary’s easily take home the win.
Kaitlyn Armstrong was the star up front for the Saints with three goals to her name and was the only multiple goal kicker on the ground. Danielle Ponter also got on the scoresheet for the Saints.
For the Tigers, captain Mickayla Ward was among the goal kickers.
Waratah washes away Buffaloes with huge win
Waratah has kept its season alive with a huge win over the Darwin Buffetes.
The margin was only just over two goals at the first change, but after that things fell apart for Darwin. That one goal they kicked in the first term would be their sole goal for the game as the Tahs continued to kick further and further away as the game progressed.
The Tahs had eight different goal kickers in the huge win, with most kicking two or more goals. Top of the tally though was Jenna Singh and Naomi Celebre, with five three goals respectively to their names.
Meanwhile Janna Ransome provided the brief bit of scoreboard joy for Darwin.
