Allies announce 2024 AFLW U18s squad
A CONDENSED 26-player Allies squad was released today, ahead of its clash with Vic Metro next weekend. The Allies – which is comprised of players from NSW/ACT, Northern Territory and Tasmania – will take on Metro at Blacktown on Saturday, June 29, before travelling to Queensland to face the Maroons and then another road trip for a battle with the reigning champions, South Australia.
The NSW/ACT contingent makes up 14 of the 26 players, with seven Tasmanians and five Northern Territory representatives rounding out the squad. Among the players are AFLW Academy members Ashley Patton (Giants Academy), Emma Juneja (Swans Academy), Tatyana Perry (Northern Territory) and Mackenzie Williams (Tasmania Devils).
In addition to those names, the likes of Ellie Hall (Murray Bushrangers/Giants Academy), Amelie Prosser-Shaw (Swans Academy), Ava Read and Sophie Strong (Tasmania Devils) are all expected to feature heavily.
From a bottom-age perspective, Tasmanian trio Priya Bowering, Mischa Barwin and Harriet Bingley are names to remember as is talented Northern Territory small Marika Carlton.
Sydney Swans Academy coach Tanya Hetherington has been announced as head coach of the Allies, and they will kick off their campaign up at Blacktown International Sportspark against Vic Metro.
