OTHER ROUND 2 RESULTS:

West Adelaide kicked clear in the final term to put away Norwood and remain unbeaten in the 2025 SANFLW season, producing a 5.12 (42) to 2.3 (15) victory. While somewhat inaccurate, the Bloods forwards were often under pressure from the Norwood defence, and only really shook the Redlegs off late in the game.

The Bloods took 17 more marks (54-37), had nine more clearances (34-25) and dominated field position with a whopping 48 inside 50s to 21. Though Norwood did well to remain in contention given the far less forward entries, eventually the numbers won out and West Adelaide stormed to a memorable win.

Emma Kilpatrick provided plenty of drive inside 50 with nine entries to accompany her 20 disposals, four marks and a goal. Midfielders Zoe Venning (25 disposals, seven marks, four clearances and five inside 50s), Hannah Button (17 disposals, 11 tackles, seven clearances and three inside 50s) and Ruby Ballard (21 disposals, 11 tackles, six clearances and six inside 50s) were strong all match.

Norwood’s defender Ashlee Gould (14 disposals, nine rebound 50s) and hard-running wing Sarah Branford (13 disposals, five rebound 50s) both tried hard behind the ball, while Jade Halfpenny chopped out in the ruck and Emma Clark had a team-high 15 touches and kicked a handy goal.

West Adelaide faces another big challenge at Hisense Stadium against South Adelaide, while Norwood looks to get its season underway with a clash against North Adelaide as part of a double-header at the venue.

Woodville-West Torrens moved to 2-0 for the first time in club history following a nail-biting 12-point win over Glenelg. While the margin looked comfortable, a goal after the final siren to Brianna Walling stretched the final deficit from six to 12 in the 7.9 (51) to 6.3 (39) victory. The Eagles looked in control for the most part, racing out to as much as a 27-point lead midway through the second term.

However Glenelg booted five consecutive goals to draw level at the 10-minute mark of the fourth term. Fortunately for the home side, a second goal to top-age AFLW Draft prospect Imogen Trengove put the Eagles back in front, before Walling sealed the deal at the death.

Trengove was a star in the victory, booting 2.2 from 19 disposals and seven inside 50s playing a key role at half-forward, while athletic tall Ruby Lynch and fellow forward Klaudia O’Neill both hit the scoreboard and provided targets in attack. Christina Leuzzi (16 disposals, five marks, four clearances and seven inside 50s) and Poppy Waterford (17 disposals, nine tackles, four clearances and four inside 50s) were also lively at the feet of Leah Cutting (14 disposals, 30 hitouts, six tackles, six clearances and six inside 50s).

For Glenelg, Jessica Bates had a standard performance with 34 disposals, seven tackles, six clearances, four inside 50s and a goal. Former skipper Ellie Kellock (22 disposals, four marks, four tackles, dive clearances and five rebound 50s) bobbed up for a couple of majors finding the ball across the ground. Top-age defender Tessa Davis stood strong in the back half, while Asha Dufour and Ash Dyer-Pietsch also impressed.

Woodville-West Torrens faces Central District in a battle of the unbeaten teams, playing at Ottoway for the third consecutive week on Saturday, while Glenelg takes on Sturt later that night at The Summit.

North Adelaide showed it means business in season 2025, with the Roosters causing a boilover down at Noarlunga with a win over reigning premiers South Adelaide. Last year’s wooden spooners fell short of a first-up win against West Adelaide, but got the job done in Round 2 against the Panthers, keeping South to just one goal for the entire game in a low-scoring, grinding win.

Despite South dominating both the hitouts (37-20) and clearances (35-17), North Adelaide’s work defending and then making the most of scoreboard opportunities saw them nullify the Panthers’ impact. A massive 30 rebound 50s – when South had 32 inside 50s – told a story of the match.

While the Roosters did not have one standout contributor, the likes of Julia Clark (18 disposals, five marks, three tackles and four clearances) and Zara Molloy (16 disposals, six marks and eight tackles) were busy. In defence, Jamie Parish (21 disposals, nine rebound 50s) and Erin Sundstrom (16 disposals, five rebound 50s) were prominent, while at the other end of the ground, Aprille Crooks (12 disposals, four marks, three inside 50s and a goal) was lively.

For South Adelaide, the experience of Caitlin Couch (28 disposals, eight tackles and six clearances) and Jordann Hickey (22 disposals, five marks) was crucial through the middle, as Tiffany King held up in defence. Best on ground was Emma Charlton who had a day out with 25 touches, four marks, seven tackles, 10 clearances and five inside 50s in the loss.

South Adelaide will lick its wounds before heading to Hisense Stadium next Sunday to face West Adelaide, with North Adelaide playing in the second match of the double-header at the venue when the Roosters face the Redlegs.
