- Team
North Adelaide
Central District
FORM
North Adelaide finished the first block of the year with a comprehensive five-goal win over Glenelg at Prospect Oval, and will be searching for back-to-back wins for the first time this season. The Roosters are at 2-2 for the year, the same as the Bulldogs though Central District is looking to snap a two-game losing streak having gone down to Woodville-West Torrens and South Adelaide.
TEAMS
North Adelaide:
B: Bailey Murray, Jamie Parish
HB: Lauren Hoffmann, Ella Metcalfe, Laela Ebert
C: Tiara Hatchard, Djimila Totham, Sasha Hardin
HF: Aprille Crooks, Zara Molloy, Polly Turner
F: Amber Ward, Lucy Reddaway
R: Anja Bancevic, Ashleigh George, Julia Clark
INT: Lara Harding, Iris Newman, Laura Niejalke, Libby Taylor, Brooke Wilson
Central District:
B: Georgia Madigan, Elizabeth Wilson
HB: Madison Lane, Miyu Endersby, Demi Sonneman
C: Shelby Raven, Caitlen Teague, Tiarna Grovermann
HF: Lauren Breguet, Katelyn Rosenzweig, Tesharna Maher
F: Alysha Healy, Tessa Doumanis
R: Tashayla Corfield, Dakota Williams, Laitiah Huynh
INT: Tess Gerhardy, Charlotte Maurits, Erica Rowe, Holly Tralaggan, Jovanka Zecevic
CHANGES
Fresh of a successful Under 16s campaign and just a three-day turnaround since her last match on Tuesday, Iris Newman returns to the Roosters’ lineup. She is joined in the side by Laura Niejalke as Crows-listed star Hannah Ewings is rested and Erin Sundstrom is out with a hamstring injury.
Central District has just match a switch of young guns with Charlotte Maurits set to make her debut and like Newman is just three days from playing for her state. She replaces National Academy member Sophie Eaton who will done the Australia jumper against an All-Stars side on Sunday.
AFLW DRAFT WATCH
North’s young core has been impressive this season with contested marking bottom-ager Polly Turner and fellow forward Lucy Reddaway very exciting. Miyu Endersby should get a chance through the ruck when not at half-back, while Maurits is all class and should hit the scoreboard.
PREDICTION
It really comes down to which Central District side comes out, because the Bulldogs were still strong last week after a poor Round 3, but convincingly got the job done in the opening fortnight. The feel is that if both sides play to their best, the Dogs should be too strong, but the Roosters have been consistent across the four weeks.

Glenelg
South Adelaide
FORM
South Adelaide got away with a win last round in an epic grand final rematch, having only lost to North Adelaide in Round 2 as the Panthers’ sole blemish. They come up against a Glenelg side that on paper has plenty of talent, but is working through a new gameplan under a new coach so getting scoring rhythm has not yet come to the winless Bays.
TEAMS
Glenelg:
B: Lauren Edwards, Ash Dyer-Pietsch
HB: Ella Quinn, Tessa Davis, Marie Martino
C: Lakeisha Sheffield, Asha Dufour, Samantha Franson
HF: Matilda Wilmore, Cassie McWilliam, Jordan Horne
F: Kaitey Whittaker, Ellen Tyminski
R: Shaylee Dayman, Jessica Bates, Georgie Fielder
INT: Millie Clarke, Chloe Harding, Mackenzie O’Dea, Alex Pearce, Kiahni Russell
South Adelaide:
B: Tiffany King, Esther Schirmer
HB: Samantha Pratt, Jaslynne Smith, Litonya Cockatoo-Motlap
C: Lauren Clifton, Melissa Anderson, Emma Charlton
HF: Abby Woodward, Tamika May, Shae Archbold
F: Caitlin Ross, Emily Brockhurst
R: Soriah Moon, Caitlin Couch, Layla Vizgaudis
INT: Casie Coombe, Doreena Hansen, Molly Jenkins, Brylee Kerrin, Taya Maxwell, Jordann Rugless (nee. Hickey), Hope Taylor, Sarah Wright
CHANGES
South Adelaide has brought in a host of players as part of an extended bench including skipper Jordann Rugless (nee Hickey) who got married over the break. She returns with classy forward Doreena Hansen who are the likely couple of ins, while Lily Baxter (National Academy match) and Laquoiya Cockatoo-Motlap (concussion) are the confirmed outs at this stage.
Glenelg also loses a talented youngster to the National Academy in Eloise Mackereth, while Ellie Kellock hurt her knee early in a Round 4 marking contest, while Lucy Weatherald and Astrid Gooley also made way. Coming into the side are Ash Dyer-Pietsch, Alex Pearce, Chloe Harding and debutant Millie Clarke.
AFLW DRAFT WATCH
All eyes for Glenelg turn to the forward pressure that Matilda Wilmore and Jordan Horne could create inside 50, while Tessa Davis has been reliable at thwarting attacks. Georgie Fielder through the midfield will likely go head-to-head with either of Layla Vizgaudis or Emma Charlton, while Taya Maxwell has caused plenty of headaches for the opposition this season.
PREDICTION
Based on form it’s impossible to look past South who look a genuine premiership contender. Glenelg is better than it has been playing, but the Bays just need to find a way to gel and get some consistent scoring flow happening in order to kick-start their season.
- Team
West Adelaide
Woodville-West Torrens
FORM
Ticking along nicely, Woodville-West Torrens is sitting pretty on top of the SANFLW table with four wins to its name and for the first time in club history, finals are looking far more likely than unlikely. West Adelaide started the year strongly but will look to bounce back from two consecutive losses just prior to the break.
TEAMS
West Adelaide:
B: Grace McNicol, Madi Russell
HB: Philippa Worthley, Jemma Ellis, Tiana Fernandez
C: Emma Kilpatrick, Hannah Button, Ella Maxwell
HF: Chelsea Newitt, Georgie Pater, Lucy Waye
F: Nicole Hooper, Alana Lishmund
R: Chloe Tonkin, Zoe Venning, Ruby Ballard
INT: Sarah Campbell, Niamh Davis, Tess Huxtable, Emily Mableson, Olivia Smith
Woodville-West Torrens:
B: Zahlia Niemann, Cheryllee Waters
HB: Poppy Waterford, Annie Falkenberg, Sophie Zuill
C: Popi Gikas, Marlie Fiegert, Maia Freemantle
HF: Ashley Baker, Amie Blanden, Audrey Holt
F: Ruby Lynch, Olivia Evans
R: Leah Cutting, Christina Leuzzi, Lucy Moore
INT: Klaudia O’Neill, Bianca Portaro, Imogen Trengove, Brianna Walling, Rosette Zerella
CHANGES
Both these sides have made just one change with West Adelaide ruck Tess Huxtable returning for Emma Chapman, while Under 16s talent Maia Freemantle comes back in exchange for the unlucky Julia Faulkner who showed signs on debut.
AFLW DRAFT WATCH
Talls Chloe Tonkin and Ruby Lynch may cross paths at some stage during the match and both love to compete in the air, while Emily Mableson and Imogen Trengove provide run-and-carry and skill for their respective sides. Freemantle has been named on a wing from her three-day backup, while Lucy Waye is another who applies pressure both up the ground and inside 50.
PREDICTION
Until the Eagles give a reason not to tip them, it’s difficult to go against them. At home West Adelaide have the upper hand, and it will depend how each side comes off the break, but on form it has to be with Woodville-West Torrens.

Sturt
Norwood
FORM
Sturt has found some form the past two rounds with back-to-back wins putting the Double Blues just outside the top four. They will desperately want to win this because it could see them leapfrog a couple of sides given the mid-table logjam. However it is critical for Norwood to bounce back after starting the season 1-3, not wanting to slip too far away from the top sides.
TEAMS
Sturt:
B: Gypsy Schirmer, Lily Whitcombe
HB: Imogen Szegedi, Isabella Drew, Tahlia Walker
C: Summer Ross, Saskia Reynolds, Claudia Edmonds
HF: Zara Walsh, Georgia King, Molly Fletcher
F: Millie McCarthy, Ruby Cunningham
R: Jasmin Fejo, Isobel Kuiper, Sophie Thredgold
INT: Eqxelle Evans, Grace Powell, Hannah Prenzler, Georgia Swan, Edwina Thornquest
Norwood:
B: Ashlee Gould, Georgie Jaques
HB: Sophie Arkun, Emily Bartsch, Charlee Brooksby
C: Kiana Lee, Stephanie Simmonds, Tahlita Buethke
HF: Amelia Rusden, Shai Hiscock, Mykaela Walker
F: Grace Whittaker, Sophie Armitstead
R: Kate Alexander, Jade Halfpenny, Sarah Branford
INT: Candice Belbin, Emma Clark, Jazmine Egan, Coby Morgan, Lana Schwerdt
CHANGES
Just two changes for both sides as top-age talents Monique Bessen (National Academy) and Charli Hazelhurst (All-Stars) head to Melbourne for a huge game. Sturt also loses star utility Alex Ballard to an ankle injury, with talls Edwina Thornquest and Tahlia Walker looking to stretch the Norwood defence. The Redlegs have omitted Georgina Birchall in favour of a pair of talls too with Georgie Jaques and Mykaela Walker returning.
AFLW DRAFT WATCH
Without Bessen, it gives Sophie Thredgold a bigger opportunity to take the reins in the middle, while Thornquest has the chance to solidify her place up forward. Summer Ross has shown promising signs both from her run-and-carry and pressure for the Double Blues, and could face off against the classy Charlee Brooksby. Ruck Kate Alexander has a huge task ahead set to face the in-form Jasmin Fejo.
PREDICTION
A genuine 50-50 contest that could go either way, Norwood has a great opportunity to try and pick its way through Sturt’s defence minus Ballard, while also having the more experienced midfield. Though the Double Blues have the homeground advantage, expect that not to worry Norwood and both sides should battle it out to the wire.
