CLUB-TIED prospects shone at last week’s SANFL Under 18s preseason testing event, hosted by Rookie Me at Nazareth College in Adelaide. Among those to achieve top five results across the five events were several father-son hopefuls and Next Generation Academy (NGA) members.

Carlton fans will be buoyed by Ben Camporeale‘s performance in the vertical leaps. The son of Scott, who is navigating the pathway alongside twin brother Lucas, scored the top running jump (95cm) and placed third in the standing jump at 79cm.

Fellow father-son gun Ky Burgoyne (son of Shaun) lit up the power running events. He notched the second best 20-metre sprint time (2.877 seconds) and stopped the clock fifth fastest over the agility course at 7.929 seconds. Hawks and Power fans, take note.

The only athlete quicker than Burgoyne across 20 metres was Port Adelaide NGA talent Benny Barrett. The small forward registered a rapid time of 2.873 seconds to put his name in lights, having also been part of the South Adelaide’s SANFL U18s flag last year.

Arguably the top performer of the day, though, was Woodville-West Torrens top-ager Zac Schwarz. He claimed podium places in four of the five events, including first in the standing vertical jump (84cm). His blend of speed and endurance was on show with strong 20m and yo-yo test results.
