2025 WAFLW Team of the Week: Round 15

PERTH’S incredible second win in the Demons’ inaugural season saw the young side record a league-high five players in our WAFL Women’s Team of the Week. Fellow winners East Fremantle and Swan Districts notched up four, while West Perth and losing team Peel Thunder had three. The remaining three sides combined for five representatives.

Headlining in the brilliant win was co-captain Isabella Shannon who racked up an incredible 37 disposals, nine marks, four tackles, nine inside 50s and 1.4, while her vice-captain in the hypothetical team was the only player who recorded more disposals than her, Jaime Henry. The Swan Districts midfielder finished with 39 disposals, six marks, eight tackles and six inside 50s in a tight six-point victory over South Fremantle.

Shannon’s other Demons co-captain Holly Britton also earned a spot for her performance through midfield, while Fina Dethlefsen (centre half-forward), Paige Bower (back pocket) and Jasmine Single (wing) were the other Perth players in the side following the weekend’s action.

Swan Districts was well represented too, with midfielder Tyla Fitzgerald the other player named on the field at half-forward, while a couple of Swans found their way onto the bench. They were winger Summer Ajduk and ruck Lauren Quaife.

East Fremantle also had a quartet of players make the Round 15 Team of the Week as Brooke Repacholi took the starting ruck spot, the returning Natasha Entwistle made her way to half-back, Amber Kinnane on the wing and skipper Ashleigh Gomes earning a place on the interchange. In the same game, South Fremantle State Academy members Alira Fotu and Marie Polimeno both hit the scoreboard and were named in the front six.

The other winner in Round 15 was West Perth with defenders Liliana Grassenis and Emily Bennett both impressing in keeping East Perth to just one goal for the match, while Hayley Bidefeld was electric in the front half of the ground with two goals. The sole Royal in the side was the consistent Elly Sara who slotted onto the bench.

Elsewhere, Peel Thunder managed three representatives in defeat with Cassie Davidson kicking two goals and looking dangerous in the front half, Kayla Bradshaw a standout in defence, and Chloe Wrigley racking up another 28 touches through midfield.

Rounding out the 24-strong squad are a couple of Tigers in midfielder Matilda Sergeant and defender Claire Ortlepp who both had a big influence in the loss to East Fremantle. Claremont’s Abby Maynard was also named one of three emergencies, while Hannah Burt (South Fremantle) and Madison Dodd (West Perth) were the others.
