PROFILE:

Abbey Vicino ticked just about every box she needed to in order to go from a player who missed out on Vic Metro's Summer squad to being a consistent performer for the 'Big V' and earning an AFLW State Draft Combine invite. Though not explosive, Vicino moves well through traffic with terrific agility, while having ultra-clean hands both under pressure and in space.

To get a sense for what Vicino offers, you have to almost slow the tapes because of her lightning disposal out of congestion to a teammate nearby, or on the overlap. Her footy IQ is quite impressive as well, and she can often produce deft taps to retain possession or draw free kicks for being held since she did not take possession.

Since moving from the midfield to attack, she has had more time to dispose of the ball and her ball use -while still needing to be tidied up a bit - has improved. She consistently hit the scoreboard in 2024 with 11 goals in 12 games for Oakleigh and then four in three for Vic Metro, ending the year on a high with her second flag for the Chargers and putting her hand up to be drafted.
