A two-way defender who has proven a mainstay in South Australia's talent pathway, Alex Holt well and truly found a home down back. He impressed as a bottom-ager in the Croweaters' Under 18 side and went on to spend most of this year playing at SANFL Reserves level, turning out 12 times for Sturt's twos.

Holt has the unique trait of being resolute and highly accountable in lockdown roles, but also capable of generating serious drive and penetration on the rebound. He played above his standing to average 4.1 marks and 4.3 intercepts for the Double Blues this season, blending such defence with sharp foot skills on the rebound.

Having spent time occupying a number of dangerous small forwards at this year's National Championships, Holt's attacking output suffered. He usually takes the game on and can set up play from the last line, but has room for improvement with regards to balancing his aggressive decision making and executing to his high standard under pressure.
