Amy Cariss-Brett was touted as a player to watch by Oakleigh coaching staff at the start of the year, and throughout the season it was evident to see why. Though she was not always as consistent as some of her bigger games, the specialist winger showed her craft playing on the outside. Her positioning and ability to hold a strong line was notable, and she worked well with Sarah Poustie and then Jemma Rigoni at the Chargers to maintain a strong balance en route to a premiership.

Cariss-Brett's kicking could be anything from sublime to rushed, so ironing out that consistency, especially for an outside player is important, as well as lifting her production numbers. Still, Cariss-Brett has the upside and talent to develop further, and she could have a case as one of the most unlucky players not to receive an AFLW Draft Combine invite. Her best games were top shelf .

As the wing role is such a critical role at AFLW level, there is a position for a player such as Cariss-Brett and she showed at Vic Metro she was capable of filling the role there. Her efficiency was lower at the national championships, but she also had to win more ball under pressure. Having shown talent as an outside player who can win her own ball, along with the run-and-carry she provides, there is enough there to suggest she could take the next step. If it isn't this year, then she has the tools to develop further as an over-ager next season.
