Madisyn Freeman is such a neat player with plenty of attributes that suggest she can take her game to another level. Her ability to play just about anywhere on the field helps her case, having spent time on the inside, outside, at half-forward and half-back over the years, and now the 22-year-old has accrued enough footy IQ to be able to fill any role a team requires of her.

Freeman's game is similar to that of top-ager Kiera Whiley in the sense that she has a lot of strengths that are above average, without having one single elite trait. This is not a bad thing, as by the same token, Freeman has minimal deficiencies in her game. She is just an all-round talent who works hard, can win the ball and use it consistently well.

Freeman is not a player who hits the scoreboard often when in the midfield, and is more of a transitional player who wins it between the arcs and gets it to her teammates. She makes good decision with ball-in-hand and has those clean skills that help her. She is not a potent user compared to some, often picking the right options and delivering, but she is more often than not able to find a target.

Though she does not have explosive speed, Freeman is still quick and uses that to her advantage, instead boasting a high endurance based that allows her to maintain consistency in her runs, particularly when on the outside. A lighter bodied player, Freeman is typically suited to an outside role, but showed in Round 1 this year against West Adelaide she play inside, racking up 10 clearances from her 23 disposals, which was her season best.
