2025 Women’s Ashes Preview: Australia

THE BIGGEST series of the Australian summer is just around the corner, with the Women’s Ashes set to get underway this Sunday.

Hosts Australia currently hold the Women’s Ashes after the 2023 series was drawn and Australia won when England was last in town back in the 2021/22 series.

Although the team may be under different leadership than it was last Ashes series, one thing that has not changed is the winning ways of the team.

Undefeated so far this summer, the Australians will certainly be hoping that does not change during the Ashes.

The Australians have only named their squad for the white ball portion of the series, and as such may change for the Test Match at the end of the series.

The biggest question around the side at the moment is around the fitness of skipper Alyssa Healy. She has had an injury interrupted past couple of months so time will tell how much of a part she plays in this series.

Another one to watch is Georgia Voll, who has been a revelation for the Australian side in recent months. After making her debut against India earlier this summer, she has proven she belongs at this level and will be looking to make sure that does not change this series.

Tahlia McGrath is also someone who might be an interesting one to keep an eye on.

Although she is not new to Ashes series’ and has always been a reliable all rounder, she will perhaps have extra responsibilities this time around. If Healy is unable to take the field, McGrath will have to lead the side in the most important series of her career.

Grace Harris will only have limited opportunities to shine having only been named for the T20 portion of the series, but she will certainly make the most of it if given the chance. Renowned for her big hitting exploits, quick fire big scores are a speciality for this big character of the game.

Someone else in some big hitting form is Ellyse Perry, who is coming off a WBBL season where she was the top scorer and she will be looking to translate this to the international stage yet again.
