Brand new Sirens bring signing period to a close
THE Strathclyde Sirens are the final team to confirm their full list for the 2024 Netball Super League, and it is certainly going to be a very different Sirens outfit taking the court next season.
Only four members of the 2023 squad are going to pull on the Sirens dress again in 2024, with Emily Nicholl, Towera Vinkhumbo, Beth Goodwin and Cerys Cairns the only ones returning.
Three of the Sirens’ new faces have been elevated from the club’s pathway programs.
Emma Love is a wing attack and goal attack, Cerys Finn is a goal keeper and goal defender, while Zara Flett is a shooter.
One of the Sirens’ new faces is a new face to the league, with shooter Sesandile Ngubane joining a few of her South African team mates in making the move to the Netball Super League this season.
The rest of the Sirens’ new faces have all come from other clubs in the Super League.
Millie Sanders has moved clubs again, this time moving up to Scotland from the Rhinos, while Hannah Williams has also moved north, coming up from the reigning premiers the Lightning.
The other two new faces are both Scottish internationals, with Hannah Leighton and Iona Christian both moving north from the Dragons and Thunder respectively. However, after a recent pregnancy announcement it is unclear how much fans will see of Christian on court in 2024.
These new faces mean the list of departures is very long. Bethany Dix, Niamh McCall, Emma Barrie, Abi Robson, Abi Tyrrell, Stella Oyella, Natalie Bright, Helen Taylor and Claire Maxwell are all leaving the Scottish side ahead of the new season.
