A crafty midcourter with plenty of attacking nous, Maggie Lind has earned her maiden elevation from training partner to squad member with the Magpies for 2022, with the smooth mover establishing herself in the Victorian Netball League. An experienced figure with a good head on her shoulders, Lind has stuck to the pathway and let her game do the talking, showcasing her competitiveness and strengths in the feeder competition and proved during the 2021 VNL season that she is in need of tougher competition, awarded joint-Most Valuable Player (MVP) and utilising her versatility to full effect.
While the way Lind conducts herself away from the court is invaluable, it is her work rate on court that makes her a valuable asset to the Magpies in the upcoming season, with her never say die attitude seeing her work in overdrive to not only receive the ball, but also receive it in the perfect position to craft a feed into the goal circle. Her adaptability and smooth movement are crucial, adjusting well to what is going on down court with her great vision and smarts, while her speed off the mark allows her to dart away from her opposition with ease to evade defensive notice.
Lind played a variety of roles for the City West Falcons in the VNL, but is most suited to wing attack with her quick footwork paramount to attending circle edge. Her timing on the feed into the circle and ability to get the job done are testament to her clean hands and quick feet, and she rarely shies away from the contest, showcasing her willingness to compete time and time again. She took the court for the Magpies on two occasions in 2021, proving she is ready to step up to the level with her composure and ability to take direction and play her role seamlessly.
