It is the most magical time of the year. The 2022 AFL Women’s Season is almost upon us, and it is time to look ahead to the season ahead.

In the lead up to the season, Rookie Me Central teamed up with other independent media organisations to bring a 2022 AFL Women’s Top 50 Countdown. Right throughout December, a new player was named starting from 50th place, stemming from a combined eight Top 50 submissions. Among those who submitted Top 50s include Siren Sport‘s Gemma Bastiani, Women’s Australian Rules Football (WARF) Radio‘s Peter Holden, and a combined Outer Sanctum team’s Top 50.

The player who ultimately came out on top of the countdown was Fremantle‘s Kiara Bowers, who after another stellar year in 2021 was named one of the League’s Best and Fairest alongside Brianna Davey.
