Stat Leaders: 2022 AFL Women’s – Round 7

ADELAIDE ball magnet Ebony Marinoff was among the AFL Women’s stat leaders in Round 7, but not for her feat of becoming the first player to reach 1000 disposals. Plenty more players produced big numbers across the latest weekend of AFLW action, find out who as we take a look at this week’s stat leaders.

Marinoff’s record breaking weekend also saw her top the charts in the tackle department, in a surprise to absolutely nobody. The star Crow laid 16 in her side’s win over GWS on Saturday, even if much of the hype was around how many times she touched the ball herself.

In the same game, Eloise Jones put herself in some good company when it came to marks. She clunked seven to go equal-top alongside three other players. Among them, Tayla Harris put in an outstanding shift with all of her grabs being contested, while teammate Eliza McNamara worked hard to racked them up in a different style. Bulldogs gun Bonnie Toogood was the fourth of the quartet, after inspiring her side’s win over Geelong on Friday night.

It was business as usual for a few Kangaroos as North Melbourne continues to prove its premiership credentials. Ash Riddell lead all comers with 30 touches this time out, including highs of eight clearances and 15 handballs – the latter of which was matched only by Catherine Phillips. Teammate Jasmine Garner also had a day out, with an unbeaten 20 kicks and three goals against former side, Collingwood.

In the game where Richmond trumped West Coast, both sides had a player who matched Garner’s goal feat. It was Aimee Schmidt for West Coast, and Tayla Stahl for the winning Tigers, as either side registered their highest scores for the season respectively. Elsewhere, ex-Tiger and current Bulldogs ruck Alice Edmonds lead the hitouts with 20.
