Brown, Jagga move up RMC Medal leaderboard

AS all 12 Victorian Coates Talent League regions enter a month-long break, it’s time to take a look back at the first four rounds of season 2023 to see who leads the Rookie Me Central Medal count. AFL Academy members were out on national duty last week, making for a few shuffles among the top 10.

There is now a pair of joint leaders after the latest round of action, with Sandringham Dragons skipper Will Brown and Oakleigh Chargers bottom-ager Jagga Smith taking their tallies to 15 votes. They surpass former leader and pick one fancy Harley Reid, who claims the final podium position.

The new leaders are the only players left to have polled in every round of the Coates Talent League to date, though others have games in hand. Tasmania Devils star Colby McKercher, who has only played two games, was best afield in both to be one of five players level on 10 votes.

He is joined by Devils captain Tom Beaumont in the top 10, while Brown and bottom-age Sandringham midfielder Levi Ashcroft make it two Dragons in the mix. Also entering the top echelon this week are Western Jets key forward Logan Morris and Geelong Falcons defender Angus Hastie.

Ashcroft is one of two father-son candidates in the mix, with the Brisbane-tied prospect joined by fourth-place Sydney Swans candidate Indhi Kirk, who is the lone over-ager to feature. Over half of the top 10 vote-getters are in the top-age (2005-born) category. Check out the rolling count below.
