ONE place in the 2026 QAFLW Grand Final remains, with Coorparoo and Bond University set to meet in tomorrow’s preliminary final at Giffin Park. Southport booked its place in the decider after a 56-point qualifying-final win over the Kings, while the Bull Sharks earned their shot at the remaining berth by holding off Morningside in a five-point semi-final thriller.

Coorparoo gets an immediate opportunity to respond from its qualifying final loss, having been unable to contain Southport after half-time in the 56-point defeat. The Kings return to Giffin Park, where they have been formidable across the season, and have named a strong line-up headed by Grace Roberts-White, Dakota Villiva and Chelsea Chesterfield. Chesterfield was the sole goalkicker against the Sharks, while Chloe Haines and Grace Osborne applied plenty of pressure around the contest.

The Kings can take confidence from their two regular-season victories over Bond University. Coorparoo prevailed by 16 points in their first encounter, then held on for a three-point victory in the return match late in the home-and-away campaign. The latter result showed the slim margins between the two teams and, with a Grand Final berth on the line, there is every reason to expect another fierce contest.

Bond University arrives in excellent finals form after controlling the territory battle against Morningside. The Bull Sharks had more disposals and inside 50s in their five-point victory, with Shannon Nolan and Evy Reeves both prolific through the midfield. Jasmyn Davidson provided pressure and ruck support, while Skye White shapes as an important presence around the stoppages. The experience and forward threat of Kendra Blattman also looms as a decisive factor for the visitors.

The key battle will be whether Bond can again own possession and generate repeat forward entries, or if Coorparoo’s midfield can turn the clearances and force the Bull Sharks to defend for longer periods. The home side will want much greater efficiency moving into attack than it managed against Southport, while Bond needs to carry the composure it showed in surviving Morningside’s final-quarter surge.

It shapes as a fitting preliminary final between two sides that have traded blows throughout 2026. Bond University’s momentum and ability to control territory makes it a genuine threat, but Coorparoo’s home ground and two head-to-head wins give the Kings a narrow edge. Coorparoo by eight points.
