ONLY a handful of NSW-ACT Under 18s squad members ran around for their club sides in Round 2 of the AFL Sydney and AFL Canberra Premier Divisions. We recap how those who did step out, performed.

AFL SYDNEY PREMIER DIVISION: ROUND 2 RESULTS

Without a doubt the Manly-Warringah Wolves were the best represented side, and the only one to have more than a solitary representative. After losing in the first round, the Wolves bounced back to win a three-point thriller over North Shore Bombers, lead by London Ashcroft and Hannah Woolf. The pair were both named among the best, with Asha Turner Funk, Jamie Saggers and Olivia Cameron also playing in the match in what turned out to be an important, albeit inaccurate, win.

Across the rest of the league there were just the two representatives running around, with Pennant Hills Demons moving to 2-0 on the season thanks to a 27-point victory over the winless Macquarie University. Swans Academy member Grace Painting played in that contest for the Demons. Meanwhile Southern Power – missing AFLW Academy member Dakota Mason – suffered a heavy 74-point loss to Sydney University, though GIANTS Academy’s Kiahana Davis White was named amongst the best for the Power.

In other results, the East Coast Eagles continued their dominant run with a whopping 63-point win over UTS Bats, whilst the Inner West Magpies – without their three Swans Academy representatives – still got over the like against UNSW-ES Bulldogs by eight points to remain undefeated in season 2022.

AFL CANBERRA PREMIER DIVISION: ROUND 2 RESULTS

TVAFC 2.2 (14) defeated by Eastlake Demons 9.10 (64)
Ainslie Tricolours 3.10 (28) defeated Belconnen Magpies 4.3 (27)

Just one of the GIANTS Academy representatives took to the field in the AFL Canberra Premier Women’s Division. Grace Read played for Belconnen during the Magpies heartbreaking one-point loss to Ainslie Tricolours. However former NSW/ACT representative Jayde Hamilton had another big game. The hard inside midfielder dominated for Queanbeyan Tigers to be named best on ground in the 76-point thrashing over Gungahlin Jets. Her sister and AFLW Academy member Cynthia Hamilton was not out there for the win. In the other match, Eastlake Demons bounced back from a Round 1 loss to defeat TVAFC by 50 points.
