SQUADS have been announced for Saturday’s annual Under 17 Futures trial games at Avalon Airport Oval, featuring talent from Victoria, NSW/ACT, and Queensland. The double-header serves as an audition for the AFL Futures showcase on Grand Final day (Saturday September 28).

Nearly all players selected across the four respective states and territories are 2007-born and thus eligible for the 2025 AFL Draft. Vic Country will open the show in Werribee against NSW/ACT at 10:45am (AEST), before Vic Metro takes on Queensland starting from 1:15pm.
Prospects who do not play on Saturday will still be eligible for selection in the AFL Futures match. Victoria’s bottom-age Under 18 representatives are absent from the Country and Metro sides, though a bunch of 2024 Allies are scattered across the NSW/ACT and Queensland sides.
Among the prospects to watch include a bunch of Maroons, who arguably have the strongest squad. Zeke Uwland has claims on being the best 2025 talent, while Daniel Annable is the Lions’ best hope. Kalani White is an interesting prospect too, tied to Gold Coast and Melbourne as a father-son.

They’ll take on a Vic Metro side with emerging talent, including Calder tall Cooper Duff-Tytler. He’ll ruck to some seriously good midfielders in Oliver Greeves, and Western pair Thomas McGuane and Thomas Burton. McGuane already has plenty of fanfare as a Collingwood father-son candidate.
Earlier in the day, plenty of intrigue will surround NSW/ACT gun Max King. A star at Under 16 level, he has been turning out in the Hunter Central Coast league this year. Fellow Swans Academy prospects and Allies teammates Noah Chamberlain and Lachlan Carmichael are also considered top talents.
The Rams lock horns with Vic Country, whose ruck and spearhead is likely to be Dandenong tall Tairon Ah-Mu. The Stingrays have a few players to watch, as do the Gippsland Power with the likes of Jobe Scapin, Brodie Atkins, and Adelaide father-son hopeful Mitchell Stevens.
