Womens 2&3s Wrap Round 5

LAST weekend saw a double header of T20 matches for everyone across both the second and third eleven competitions. In part one of this wrap up, we take a look at how everyone went in their first match of the double header.

Box Hill                             

2nd XI
Box Hill were able to do what no other side has been able to do so far this season and that is beat Geelong.

Geelong batted first, and they were bowled out for 58.

Unsurprisingly Box Hill were able to reach the target easily, but they certainly took their time.

With very little for the batters to do, the stars of the show for Box Hill were their bowlers.

Emma Stilve was the best of Box Hill’s bowlers, taking 3/12 off her four overs.

3rd XI    
In a low scoring affair again Prahran, Box Hill bowled first and were able to restrict the True Blues to 98 off their 20 overs.

A fantastic bowling display from the True Blues saw the Mustangs restricted to only 54 off their 20 overs.

Tanya Arul and Tiana Gouldson both took two wickets for the Mustangs.

Carlton

2nd XI
To say that Carlton had a disaster with the bat is an understatement. They were bowled out for 80 with five balls left in the innings and only three batters made double figures.

In the end, Dandenong took the time but were able to reach the target easily.

Hannah Flood took all three wickets Carlton were able to take in their defence.

3rd XI    
Carlton’s 3rd XI had the bye first up last Sunday

Dandenong

2nd XI
Dandenong put together a stellar performance against Carlton with the ball, bowling them out for 80 with five balls left in the innings. In the end, Dandenong took the time but were able to reach the target easily.

Nilakshi Perera took three wickets for Dandenong, while Grace Wrigglesworth and Jessica Caron took two wickets.

Evie Stansby scored about half of Dandenong’s runs by herself, making 41 not out.

3rd XI    
Dandenong’s 3rd XI did a bit of a demolition job on Plenty Valley.

After restricting them to make 7/61 off their 20 overs, Dandenong only took 8.4 overs to reach the target.

Lillian Strong took 3/12 off her 4 overs, while Sarah Clark also took two wickets.

Essendon Maribyrnong Park

2nd XI
Batting first, the Bombers were inhibited a bit by the slow start and ultimately made 5/122 off their 20 overs.

Tomeka Fowlie top scored with 42.

In response Melbourne left it late but managed to get the job done with a ball to spare.

Leah Caluzzi was the best of the EMP bowlers, taking two wickets.

3rd XI    
After restricting Melbourne to 2/137 off their 20 overs, EMP couldn’t quite get the job done, falling 34 runs short.

Hannah Brne top scored for the Bombers with 32.

Geelong

2nd XI
Geelong’s good early season form finally came to an end on the weekend. Batting first against Box Hill, they were bowled out for 58. Unsurprisingly Box Hill were able to reach the target easily, but they certainly took their time.

3rd XI                   
Geelong kept their perfect early season record in tact, this time defeating Ringwood. Batting first, Geelong made a even century in their 20 overs, but only two batters made double figure scores.  In reply, they kept Ringwood to only 73, therefore ensuring their victory. Sophie Walsh was the best of Geelong’s bowlers, taking four wickets in her four overs. Katie Lindsay also chimed in with two wickets.

Melbourne

2nd XI
After restricting EMP to 5/122 off their 20 overs, Melbourne left it late in the chase but managed to get the job done with a ball to spare. Jess Couser top scored for the Dees with 46.

3rd XI    
Playing EMP, the Dees batted first and were restricted to 2/137 off their 20 overs. Parry Jenkins and Amelie O’Meara both made decent scores for the Dees, making 51 and 57 respectively. In reply, the Bombers couldn’t quite get the job done, falling 34 runs short.

Plenty Valley

2nd XI
Plenty Valley’s 2nd XI had the bye first up last Sunday

3rd XI    

Plenty Valley’s bad start to the season just continued, this time losing to Dandenong. Batting first, they were only able to make 7/61 off their 20 overs. Dandenong only took 8.4 overs to reach the target.  

Prahran              

2nd XI
Batting first again Ringwood, Prahran never really got going and could only make 98 off their 20 overs. Only three batters made double figures. In the end, Ringwood were able to reach the target easily with just over four overs to go.

3rd XI    
In a low scoring affair again Box Hill, Prahran batted first and were only able to make 98 off their 20 overs. A fantastic bowling display from the True Blues saw the Mustangs restricted to only 54 off their 20 overs.

Enuri Rahubadde Kankanange was an absolute star with the ball for Prahran, taking 3/5 in only two overs. Jemma Heitlinger and Zoe Quinsey-Munro also both took two wickets each.

Ringwood

2nd XI
Bowling first against Prahran, the Rams had a brilliant innings with the ball. They restricted Prahran to only 98 off their 20 overs. In the end, Ringwood were able to reach the target easily with just over four overs to go.

It was a fairly even spread of wicket takers for the Rams, with Tegan Rule and Jordyn Doevelaar the pick of the bowlers with two wickets each. With the bat, it was once again Rule who was the star with the bat, making 64 not out.

3rd XI    
In club stalwart Lainie Price’s 100th game, Ringwood couldn’t quite get the job done against Geelong. Chasing only 101, they could only make 73 in their 20 overs. Kate Burns was the pick of Ringwood’s bowlers, taking four wickets.
