Recap: Victorian Premier Cricket – Women’s 2nds and 3rds semi-finals

IT is finals time in the Victorian Premier Cricket Women’s 2nds and 3rds competition, with the best of the best putting their foot forward to get their teams into this year’s Grand Final.

2nd XI

Melbourne vs Ringwood

Melbourne continued its great season and booked a place in the Grand Final, comfortably disposing of Ringwood.

Melbourne batted first, and made a very impressive 3/240 off its 50 overs. This was off the back of 104 from Jess Couser, and she was ably assisted by Mia Perrin, who made 43.

Meanwhile for the Rams, Tegan Rule took all three wickets.

In reply, despite a 76 from Alexandra Sheedy and a 44 from Rule, Ringwood struggled to get near the target and only managed 4/188 off their 45 overs.

Vanchica Pathania was the pick of the Dees’ bowlers, taking 2/38 off her eight overs, which included a maiden.

Dandenong vs Box Hill

The other grand finalist will be Box Hill, who comfortably took care of Dandenong.

After winning the toss and batting first, Dandenong was bowled out for only 133. Only three batters made double figure scores, with Zoe Burke top scoring with 40.

For the Mustangs, Rituja Talekar took three wickets, while Lily Parker took two.

In reply, the target was no problem for the Mustangs, who reached the target with just over two overs to go.

Captain Pennie Harrison was the top scorer for the Mustangs with 36.

For Dandenong, Grace Wrigglesworth and Nilakshi Perera each took a wicket.

3rd XI

Geelong vs Dandenong

Geelong have continued its stellar debut season in the 3rd XI competition, defeating Dandenong and booking its place in the Grand Final.

Batting first, the victors made 7/153 off their allotted overs.

Heidi Schneider top scored with 33.

Meanwhile for Dandenong, Kethmi Ekanayake was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Acacia Sutton took two.

In reply, Dandenong got very close to reaching the target, but ultimately fell three runs short of their target.

Montana Phillips was the top scorer with 39.

Melbourne vs Carlton

The other Grand Finalist will be Melbourne, who took care of Carlton to book their spot in the decider.

Batting first, the Dees made 6/148, with Alice O’Brien top scoring with 49.

Mia Earl and Grace Kerwin both took two wickers for Carlton.

In reply, Carlton fell short, being bowled out for 119.

Only three Blues made double figures, with Taylah Mason top scoring with 35.

Chelsea Wemyss took three wickets for the Dees, while Parry Jenkins, O’Brien and Breese Jenkins each took two wickets.
