U19 World Cup Day 6 Wrap – Super 6s finalised

DAY 6 at the Under 19 World Cup saw Groups B and C wrap up their matches, with the countries advancing to the Super 6s stage of the tournament decided.

Group B

England annihilate Rwanda

After the euphoria of their first ever World Cup win, Rwanda came crashing back to earth against England, with the English thrashing it to the tune of 138 runs.

England made 5/183 off its 20 overs, before bowling Rwanda out for a mere 45.

Liberty Heap made a stellar 64 from a mere 35 balls, while Grace Scrivens was not far behind on 51.

Alexa Stonehouse, Hannah Baker, Ryana Macdonald-Gay and Davina Perrin all took two wickets for the victors, while Sylvia Usabyimana was a rare shining light for the Rwandans, taking three wickets.’

Pakistan do it easy against Zimbabwe

Pakistan has kept Zimbabwe winless at the tournament to date, defeating it by 10 wickets.

After Zimbabwe posted 6/97 from their 20 overs, Pakistan only needed about 11 overs to get the job done.

Eyman Fatima blasted 62 from 35 balls to help speed up the process for the Pakistanis, with her innings including 10 fours and two sixes.

Anosha Nasir also topped the wicket tally for the Pakistanis, taking two wickets.

These results mean England, Pakistan and Rwanda progress to the Super 6s stage, while Zimbabwe will play one last consolation match before heading home.

Group C

Ireland on the board and progress to next stage

In the battle of Group C’s winless sides, Ireland has defeated Indonesia by 49 runs to ensure it progresses to the Super 6s stage.

The Irish posted a very competitive 5/156 from their 20 overs, then some tight bowling ensured that Indonesia only reached 8/107 from 20 overs.

52 not out from Zara Craig and 50 from Georgina Dempsey was the backbone of the Irish innings with the bat, while Craig also topped the wicket tally for the Emerald Isle with two.

Meanwhile Ni Kadek Ariani (three wickets) and Ni Luh Ketut Wesika Ratna Dewi (two wickets) took all of the wickets for Indonesia.

Kiwis do it easy against Windies

New Zealand has finished off the group stage of the tournament in a canter, defeating the West Indies by 10 wickets.

After New Zealand bowled the West Indies out for just 68, the New Zealand openers did it with ease, not even needing eight overs to get the job done.

The bowlers really set up the win for New Zealand, with Kate Chandler picking up three wickets while Olivia Anderson each picking up two.

Georgia Plimmer also scored 41 with the bat to help speed up the process for the Kiwis.

These results mean New Zealand, West Indies and Ireland progress to the Super 6s stage, while will play one last consolation match before heading home.
