U19 World Cup Day 7 Wrap – Fourth place sides last chance to shine

DAY 7 at the Under 19 World Cup saw one last hoorah for the sides that finished in fourth place in their groups and as such will not be progressing to the next stage of the tournament.

Scotland end tournament on high with a win

Scotland finished off its tournament the best way it could, downing the USA by five wickets to register its first win of the tournament. The US made a very competitive 7/147 off its 20 overs, and the Scots were certainly made to work for the win, reaching the target with a mere two balls to spare.

Katherine Fraser starred with both bat and ball for Scotland, making 59 with the bat and taking three wickets with the ball, while Orla Montgomery also took two wickets. Aditiba Chudasama starred with the ball for the US, taking two wickets, while Laasaya Mullapudi top scored with 43.

Indonesia cause upset to finish tournament on high

Indonesia caused a bit of an upset in defeating Zimbabwe to go out on a high from the tournament and record its first ever World Cup win. Coming into the clash many would have expected the full member nation Zimbabwe to win, but that was not to be the case as the Indonesians won by three wickets, chasing a mere 87 for victory.

The bowlers really were the stars of the show for both sides. Ni Luh Ketut Wesika Ratna Dewi took five for the Indonesians and Ni Kadek Ariani picked up two, while Chipo Moyo and Kelis Ndhlovu both took three for the Zimbabweans.
