U19 World Cup Day 11 Wrap – Two very contrasting results

DAY 11 at the ICC Women’s Under 19 World Cup may have only had two games, they yielded vastly different results. While one game was decided on the last ball, the other was much less dramatic. We recap the day’s play.

Group 1

South Africa hangs on in ultimate cliff hanger

South Africa has ended its World Cup campaign with the ultimate cliff hanger, defeating Sri Lanka by a mere one run.

South Africa posted 7/134 from its 20 overs, and Sri Lanka almost got over the line, but fell agonisingly short of picking up one last win.

Kayla Reyneke top scored for the South Africans with 43, and also took the most wickets for her side with two to her name.

Meanwhile for the Sri Lankans, Vidushika Perera took three wickets while Dewmi Vihanga Wijerathne took two poles, and Vihanga Wijerathne top scored with 37.

The result sees the tournaments of both nations come to an end, with neither side able to progress through to the semi finals.

Group 2
