Originally taken as Adelaide’s inaugural pick in the 2016 draft, Marinoff is a hard running, ball hungry midfielder who is described by the Adelaide website as ‘A ball of energy who excels at stoppages and is an accurate left-foot kick’.
She is has been a star of the competition since her debut year. In 2017 alone, she earned All Australian honours and won the Rising Star Award. She would earn All Australian honours again in 2019 and 2021.
In 2018, she was the competition’s leading tacklers for the season with 82. She is also a two-time premiership player, having been a member of Adelaide’s 2017 and 2019 title winning teams.
Taking a look back, 2021 was another stellar year for Marinoff. On the stats front, she raked in above career average figures for many of her stats.
With a career average of 20.5 disposals a game, Marinoff managed to register an average of 23.5 disposals a game in 2021. This included a career high 35 disposals against Melbourne in the Preliminary Final.
Looking ahead to the 2022 season, Marinoff will be looking to continue her stellar form and only improve even further as Adelaide look to avenge their 2021 Grand Final loss. After a stellar preseason, she was elevated to Adelaide’s leadership group for the 2022 season.
In terms of this countdown, everyone agreed Marinoff belonged in their top 15 of their 50. One of us ranked her 15th, but the majority had her between first and seventh.
Siren Sport’s Gemma Bastiani ranked Marinoff eighth and had this to say about the Crows midfielder:
“Ultra consistent and willing to do the hard, less glamorous stuff. Marinoff has been a top-tier player as long as the competition has existed.”
