A player who needs no introduction, Madison Prespakis has been a highly touted star since even before she burst onto the AFLW scene two years ago. She was one of the most highly talked about potential draftees of her draft year. Originally drafted as pick three in the 2018 season, she made her debut in Round one.
Prespakis had a stellar debut year, picking up the Rising Star in her debut season as well as the AFLPA Best First Year Player in the same year. She took a game up even further in 2020. She did not drop below 17 disposals in any of her games and went on to win the League Best and Fairest award.
She’s also a two-time All-Australian member, having been named in the 2019 and 2020 sides. She made the 2021 40-player squad but did not make the final side.
Prespakis had yet another stellar year in 2021, racking up the stats once again. She averaged 21.1 disposals a game, which was the highest average amongst the Carlton playing group for the season. Prespakis also had the highest averages clearances per game amongst her teammates, averaging 3.8 per game.
Prespakis finished in quite a wide range of places across the various countdowns, but she still made everyone’s lists. Some had her as high as fifth, while someone else had her as low as 39th. Most placed her between fifth and seventh, which is how she finds herself finishing sixth in the countdown.
Siren Sport’s Gemma Bastiani ranked Madison Prespakis at fifth, and had this to say about the young star:
“Wet from Rising Star to AFLW Best & Fairest in the space of a year, and even in a down season, did remarkable things.”
