Rookie Me Central’s Collaborative 2022 AFL Women’s Top 50 Countdown: #5 Alyce Parker
IN a new exciting collaborative countdown, Rookie Me Central has teamed up with other independent media organisations to bring a 2022 AFL Women’s Top 50 Countdown. Every weekday from now until December 17, a new player will be named starting from 50th down to 1st, stemming from a combined eight Top 50 submissions. Among those who submitted Top 50s include Siren Sport‘s Gemma Bastiani, Women’s Australian Rules Football (WARF) Radio‘s Peter Holden, and a combined Outer Sanctum team’s Top 50.
Today we continue our countdown with number 5, GWS GIANTS Alyce Parker.

Alyce Parker may be only 21-years-old, but she has been a star since she debuted and will continue to be one for years to come.
She was nominated for the AFLW Rising Star Award in her debut game, and although she didn’t win that award, she did take home the Giants’ Rising Star Award in her debut season.
In just her second year in 2020, she had a breakout year. She was named All-Australian and took home the Gabrielle Trainor Medal as the GWS Best and Fairest winner.
In 2021 she did it all again. She won her second All Australian honour and took out the Gabrielle Trainor Medal for a second year in a row.
The individual success makes her a bit of a history maker. She is both GWS’ first dual AFLW All Australian, and at present is the only dual Gabrielle Trainor Medallist. All this before the age of 21.
She is a tough in and under midfielder, and is a ball winner, regularly getting the ball out of stoppages and creating clearances for her side.
In each of her first three seasons at AFLW level, she’s finished in the top three amongst her teammates for average disposals per game. In 2019 she averaged 16.3, in 2020 it was 21.1 and in 2021 it increased again to 23.9. Looking at the league as a whole, she has finished in the top 20 for average disposals every single season.
She actually finished in the top 10 the past two seasons and had the equal highest average in 2021, tied with Saint Georgia Patrikios. Across the eight lists that combined to make this countdown, Parker finished in the top 15 of everyone’s. The lowest she was ranked on anyone’s list was 15th, but she did finish as high as fifth.
