2026 WAFLW Round 12 wrap: Records smashed in massive performances

A RIDICULOUS 30-disposal and six-goal game was perhaps the only way another disposal record-breaking effort could be overshadowed as arguably the two best players in the WAFLW had games to remember in their respective side’s huge victories.

Perth co-captain Isabella Shannon dropped a mind-boggling 30 disposals, five marks, five inside 50s and six goals in the Demons’ belting of Peel Thunder, before Swan Districts midfielder Jaime Henry broke her own individual league disposal record with 51 touches in a 69-point belting of South Fremantle.

Unfortunately for neutral fans, the Round 12 results were not overly close, with East Fremantle’s 13-point victory over Subiaco being the tightest of the four games. In the other three matches, the winners kicked 39.21 (155) to 8.9 (47) to flex their muscles against lower ranked opponents.

The first match of the weekend was Perth’s 15.8 (98) to 2.2 (14) demolition of Peel Thunder as the Demons – despite only having nine more inside 50s (39-30) scored at a ridiculous rate of every 13 disposals. Dominating the hitouts thanks to Molly Warne (33) and Shannon Bistrup (18), the Demons had first hands to it and let the likes of Shannon and Isla Baldwin (32 disposals, four marks, 12 tackles and five inside 50s) go to work.

Shannon and Lauren Davey (14 disposals, six marks, three tackles and four goals) combined for 10 goals in the match, and both had three at half-time. With the game all but done despite a late goal to Kate Bartlett on the edge of the main break, the Demons kept the foot down and ran out 84-point winners. Alyssa Smogavec (27 disposals, six tackles and three inside 50s) and Holly Britton (25 disposals, five marks and three tackles) were also amongst the best.

For Peel Thunder, it was hard to have too much to cheer about, the youth of Tiama Collard (18 disposals, three marks, three tackles and four inside 50s) and Layla Scott (18 disposals, two marks and seven inside 50s) both impressed. Meanwhile the usual suspects in Gracie Fenton (31 disposals, three marks, three tackles and two inside 50s) and Chloe Wrigley (26 disposals, four marks, five tackles and four inside 50s) kept the opposition honest.

Fans are running out of superlatives to describe Henry after the Swan Districts ball-winner racked up 51 disposals, eight marks, three tackles and seven inside 50s in Swan Districts’ 16.5 (101) to 5.2 (32) smashing of South Fremantle. After the Bulldogs defeated West Perth last week it looked as though they had turned a corner in their season making it back-to-back wins. However Swan Districts sent the Dogs crashing back to earth with a four-quarter demolition of between three to five goals each term.

Aside from Henry, the Swans were evenly spread as double bottom-ager Keira Fawcett and the dangerous Chloe Reilly both kicked 4.1 from 19 disposals and four marks, while Ashley Sharp booted three in the victory. Luka Davis (21 disposals, two marks, two tackles and five inside 50s) and Jessica Cox (21 disposals, two marks, five tackles and six inside 50s) were among the more prolific players, as Summer Yarran clunked eight marks and kicked a goal from 14 disposals. Madison Evans (19 disposals, four marks and four tackles) and Tahleah Mulder (19 disposals, six marks and nine tackles) stood out in defeat, while Annalie Polimeno kicked a couple of goals.

Claremont always had control over East Perth in a battle of the reigning premiers up against the reigning wooden spooners, coming out with an 8.8 (56) to 1.5 (11) result. The Tigers surprisingly had less inside 50s (28-36) but capitalised with a score every 16.7 disposals compared to the Royals’ 44. East Perth did well to limit the Tigers’ scoring late, but it was all over by then.

Jayme Harken (24 disposals, four marks, five tackles and three inside 50s) lead the way with Sarah Viney (23 disposals) and the newly returned Hayley Bullas (19 disposals, four marks, five tackles, four inside 50s and a goal) all prominent. Matilda Husband (15 disposals, 24 hitouts) had a great battle with Brooke Edwards (20 disposals, 19 hitouts), while Kahra Sprlyan (20 disposals, four marks and six tackles) and Lucy Greenwood (17 disposals, three marks, five tackles and four inside 50s) were both strong.

In the final game of the weekend and a true scrap, East Fremantle pulled away for yet another victory, winning 5.6 (36) to 3.5 (23). Just one goal was kicked in the first half with East Fremantle leading by that exact margin, and continued to remain in front, booting four goals to three after the main break. Subiaco had plenty of chances with 37 inside 50s to 25, but could not capitalise as the Sharks came away with the 13-point win.

Jae Flynn (25 disposals, three marks, two tackles, three inside 50s and a goal) lead all-comers on her side, while State Academy members Olivia McCay (24 disposals, two tackles) and Cienna Leslie (22 disposals, four tackles, three inside 50s and a goal) both put their hand up to be called into the Sandgropers’ 23. Zoe Keley (17 disposals, 36 hitouts) impressed through the ruck, while the usual Subiaco suspects in Krstel Petrevski (33 disposals, eight tackles and six inside 50s), Lisa Steane (25 disposals, four tackles and six inside 50s), Dana Hooker (22 disposals, three marks, six tackles and four inside 50s) and Paige Sheppard (22 disposals, nine marks, three inside 50s and a goal) all racked up their usual high-volume.
