+ Decision making
+ Clean hands
- Kicking consistency
Kobe Ryan is a consistent ball-winning machine who racks up massive numbers, credit to his high work rate and ability to get into the right spots. He is traditionally an inside midfielder, but has been utilised in a number of roles across his career, with some eye-catching strengths but also some needed improvements.
A member of the West Adelaide on-ball brigade, Ryan played four League matches where he averaged 18 disposals and around three clearances per match. At Reserves level, those numbers rose to 25.8 and 4.8 respectively, then across eight games at Under 18s level, Ryan smashed out 30 and 6.9.
The numbers are mind-boggling and when put side-by-side, there are few players who could match his sheer production. In the Under 18s, his lowest disposal count was 23, and in one match he had 37 disposals, nine marks, 10 clearances, eight tackles and two goals. Along with his high production, Ryan has clean hands and generally makes good decisions.
However, Ryan also is still lightly built at just 73kg, and is an inconsistent kick which is an area to work on for the future. He showed he is capable of matching it with the best, and was one of the top State Combine invitees, but his best position is unknown and he has plenty of room to improve.
