ALTHOUGH it may only be two rounds into this year’s Suncorp Super Netball season, let us take a look at who has been performing well and who leading the stats so far this season.
Goals, goal attempts and goal assists
The leading goals and goal attempts tables are a mirror of each other. Fever star Jhaniele Fowler leads both the goals and goal attempts across the league at the moment, followed in both categories by Donnell Wallam, Mwai Kumwenda, Shimona Nelson and Lenize Potgieter. Remarkably Fowler has shot 122 goals so far this season, and only missed five shots across the opening fortnight.
The top five of the goal assist tally however is quite a mixed bag of players and teams. The leader at the moment is Sasha Glasgow from the Fever with 53 goal assists to her name. Next up is Lara Dunkley, followed by Liz Watson, Maddy Proud and Mahalia Cassidy.
Super Shots
Although they may have not won a game yet this season, the Swifts have certainly been nailing the Super Shots, with star shooter Helen Housby currently sitting atop the Super Shot tally with eight.
Next on the list is GIANTS’ captain Jo Harten, who has landed seven super shots across the opening fortnight. Rounding out the top five are Donnell Wallam, Sasha Glasgow and Rahni Samason.
Super Shot attempts
Taking a look at the Super Shot attempts, and it is the same top two but in the reverse order. It is Harten who leads with 19, while Housby has had 17 attempts. Rounding out the top five are Reilley Batcheldor, Tippah Dwan and Sophie Garbin.
Rebounds
Firstly looking at the offensive rebounds, and it is Pie Shimona Nelson who leads the tally with eight.The rest of the top five all have six rebounds to their name – Helen Housby, Mwai Kumwenda, Donnell Wallam and Jhaniele Fowler.
Focusing on the defensive rebounds, and it is Fever captain Courtney Bruce who leads all comers with 11, followed by Shamera Sterling with nine. The rest of the top five are Eboni Usoro-Brown, Latanya Wilson and Olivia Lewis.
Deflections and Intercepts
Fever skipper Courtney Bruce leads the way in deflections with 16, followed by Swifts’ defender Sarah Klau. The remainder of the top five are Geva Mentor, Shamera Sterling and Eboni Usoro-Brown.
Looking at intercepts, and it is Sterling that leads the way with eight. The rest of the top five all have five intercepts to their name – Hannah Petty from the Thunderbirds, Vixens pair Emily Mannix and Jo Weston, and Firebird Gabi Simpson.
