Stat Leaders: 2022 NAB League Girls – Round 2

ROUND 2 of the 2022 NAB League Girls season saw an even spread of stars top the charts in a stats sense. Western Jets’ Charlotte Baskaran was among the standouts in her maiden outing for the season, but there were plenty more players who rose to the occasion in Round 2. Find out who as we take a look at all of this week’s stat leaders.

>> Results/Votes: Round 2 wrap | Scouting Notes | Player of the Week: Charley Ryan (Dandenong Stingrays)

It took little time for Western Jets star Baskaran to get going, with her side entering the competition this week after a bye in Round 1. The classy midfielder and ultimate professional showcased her work rate to rack up a high of 32 disposals, falling just a couple of stats short of both the kick and handball leads, too. Teammate Krystal Russell played a big part in those exploits, winning a monster 38 hitouts.

Topping said charts were Lilli Condon and Charley Ryan (both 21 kicks), and Northern Knights bottom-ager Ava Jordan (14 handballs). Both Condon and Jordan were standouts in respective losses, while Ryan came to prominence in Dandenong’s record 135-point win over Gippsland.

The Stingrays midfielder also shared top spot in the goalkicking tally this week, booting five majors to match the feats of Geelong Falcons match winner Elizabeth Dowling. Ryan’s prolific teammate Amber Clarke features here for the second week running, contributing a round-high of eight inside 50s. She currently leads the competition for goals with nine.

On the flip side, Sandringham Dragons defender Georgia Foran was a rock in defence once again and set her side in motion with 13 rebound 50s. Her intercept game was sound, as was the marking game of Knights winger Brooke Plummer. She worked hard for a total of eight, while Calder’s Amy Gaylor laid 13 tackles in the same game – matched by Bendigo’s Scarlett Orritt.
