2023 RM Central Talent League Girls Team of the Year squad released

OUR 2023 Rookie Me Central Talent League Girls Team of the Year squad has been released with 48 players named in the initial squad. Of the 48 players, the list will be cut down to 24 ahead of the Talent League Girls Grand Final.

The squad features players who played a minimum of seven matches – just over 50 per cent of the possible total 13 – and inclusion was based off our regular Team of the Weeks. Every player that made at least four Team of the Weeks made the final squad, with an additional 15 players having two or three nominations, but rewarded for greater consistency across the year.

From the restrictions, the main player limited was Calder’s Chloe Baker-West who only played the six regular season matches – making four teams – falling one short of the minimum seven. At the other end of the echelon, one player received 11 Team of the Week nominations, while the next most was nine. Two players had eight apiece, while four more received seven nominations.

Every player with six or more nominations automatically qualified for the team, with a number of unlucky players just missing out. The final Team of the Year squad with 24 players and three emergencies will be named over the next week.

Of the 2023 squad, three players could end up going back-to-back after making the Team of the Year last year, in Bendigo’s Lucia Painter, Gippsland’s Ash Centra and Northern’s Ava Jordan.
