Aussies and Indians balanced heading into final day test

THE one-off Test Match between Australia and India is at an interesting place heading into the final day of the match. After bowling the Indians out for 406, the Australians are 5/233 in their second innings at the end of the day’s play, which gives them a lead of 46 runs.

India started the day well, with Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti Sharma putting on a 122 run partnership for the eighth wicket. However, once the wickets started to fall things got a lot easier for the Australians, with the final three wickets all falling within a three and a half over spell.

It was also a pair of Victorians who were the saviours for the Australians, with Annabel Sutherland picking up two of the final three wickets and Kim Garth picking up the third. Sharma end up being the top scorer for the entire Indian innings, finishing with a score of 78. Vastrakar meanwhile had made 47.

In reply, the Australians had a mixed innings with bat-in-hand. From starting with a 49-run opening stance, to losing another wicket two overs and seven runs later, it certainly had its ups and downs.

Ellyse Perry and Tahlia McGrath then gave the innings some stability, putting on an 84 run third wicket partnership before McGrath and Alyssa Healy backed it up with a 66 run fourth wicket partnership. McGrath would ultimately be the top scorer for the Australians for the day with 73, with Perry finishing on 45.

On the flipside it was Sneh Rana and Harmanpreet Kaur who were the pick of the bowlers, both picking up two wickets each.
