Brianna Davey is a leader, a tough midfielder and a reliable one too.

Despite all that she has achieved in the AFLW, some may have forgotten that footy is not the only sport she has excelled in at the highest level. She was an elite level soccer player too, having debuted for the Matildas in 2021 and representing Australia on a number of occasions. Then as she was getting pushed out of the soccer ranks she made the move across to Aussie Rules and the rest is history.

Originally from the St Kilda Sharks in Victoria, she was named as one of Carlton’s inaugural marquee players alongside Darcy Vescio. Davey was named in the All-Australian side in that first season, but what may surprise some is that she didn’t make the All-Australian side again until 2021.

She was named captain of Carlton for 2018 and 2019, but then after the 2019 season sensationally asked to be traded to Collingwood. Davey was runner up in the Collingwood Best and Fairest in her first season at the club, and was then named co captain alongside Stephanie Chiocci for the 2021 season. She will do so again alongside Chiocci in 2022.

Davey produced another stellar year in 2021, which resulted in many accolades, none less so than the League Best and Fairest alongside Kiara Bowers. She also caped off a maiden Collingwood Best and Fairest, going one better than the previous year. As previously mentioned, she also made the All Australian team, but not just made the side, but was also named captain.

In terms of pure stats, she led her side in average disposals per game. Her average 23.8 disposals per game is also the third highest across the league for the 2021 season, only 0.1 behind joint leaders Alyce Parker and Georgia Patrikios.

She had the fifth highest average clearances of the entire league with 4.8, and led her side in tackles with an average of 5.7 tackles a game.

In terms of this countdown, the almost unanimous consensus was that Davey is a top five player in the AFLW. One person ranked her in 14th, but everyone else ranked her between 1st and 4th.
